Looking for something to do during March break/ We've got the perfect activity to do with your kids! This class is entirely hand tool based, and can be attended by youth below our usual age requirements.
Hit the lake in style this year with your very own hand carved canoe paddle. Starting with an Ash blank each student will lay out and carve their own beavertail paddle using rasps, planes and spokeshaves and sander.
Hand carving a paddle is hard work, students should be sensibly dressed and prepared to break a sweat.
Each student will leave with a beautiful hand carved paddle that is ready for final varnishing. Due to drying time varnishing cannot be accomplished in our limited time frame. We will discuss different finishing options and demonstrate how to properly apply them.
No experience necessary, all materials and tools are provided.
Note: We are offering 2 separate sessions, one weekday class on Thursday March 19th from 12:00-5:00 and one Saturday session from 9:00 until 2:00. Please make sure that you select the session that you would like to attend.
